The model 800D operates as a typical drum humidifier, and is equipped with a unique Self-Cleaning System. The amount of maintenance is lowered because the unit automatically drains small amounts of water out of the water pan, which reduces mineral deposits caused by water hardness.

Other brands of flow through furnace humidifiers can use up to 6 gallons per hour of water to evaporate less than 1 gallon of water. The 12HF, however, uses up to 80% less water than other "flow-thru" brands. When the humidity level drops below the set point on the humidistat and the furnace is running, the patented heat sensor activates the unit. Small amounts of fresh water are then added intermittently, flowing thru the media pad as the humidified air is then circulated throughout your entire home. Most mineral deposits are then carried away to a floor drain.
