Installation Options

Save hundreds of dollars or more on heating and cooling equipment installations!  For maximum savings on your installation, complete the non-technical portion of the installation and simply call a contractor to complete just the final hook-up, start-up and check test.

All Federal, State and Local Codes must be adhered to, in addition to the Manufacturer’s Installation Guidelines.

NON-TECHNICAL INSTALLATION PORTION:

Below is a general outline of the non-technical portion of the pre-installation of Air Conditioning and Gas Furnaces to be performed by qualified individuals. All Federal, State and local codes must be adhered to, in addition to the manufacturer’s installation guidelines.

Central Air Conditioning:

  • Purchase the proper condenser, coil, line set and accessories needed from the retailer.
  • Obtain the necessary permits, etc., if applicable, adhering to all federal, state, and local codes.
  • Position the condenser properly on a pad, per the manufacturer’s installation guidelines.
  • Place coil within the plenum or adapt to top of furnace/air handler.
  • Run line set from the indoor coil to the outdoor condenser, but do not make connections.
  • Run 240 V wiring from the access panel to the outdoor disconnect box.
  • Supply high voltage outdoor electrical whip for the contractor, but do not make connections.
  • Run low voltage wire from the condenser to furnace or air handler, but do not make connections.
  • Run low voltage wire from the thermostat to furnace or air handler, but do not make connections.
  • Have contractor perform final hook-up, start-up and check test.
  • All Federal, State and local codes must be adhered to, in addition to the manufacturer’s installation guidelines.

 
Gas Furnace:

  • Purchase the proper furnace and other accessories that might be needed from the retailer.
  • Obtain the necessary permits, etc., if applicable, adhering to all Federal, State, and local codes.
  • Position the furnace properly, per the manufacturer’s installation guidelines.
  • Attach new plenum or adapt existing plenum to top of furnace and attach return air drop.
  • Have gas line and shut off control in place for hook-up to gas valve, but do not make connections.
  • Run 120 V wiring from the access panel to the furnace, but do not make connections.
  • Run low voltage wire from the thermostat to furnace or air handler, but do not make connections.
  • Vent the furnace per the manufacturer’s installation guidelines.
  • Have contractor perform final hook-up, start-up and check test.
  • All Federal, State and local codes must be adhered to, in addition to the manufacturer’s installation guidelines.

 
TECHNICAL INSTALLATION PORTION:

The contractor’s services are to perform the technical hook-ups at the units. Any additional labor, parts, alterations, or additional trips that might be necessary to complete the installation will increase his final cost. All Federal, State and local codes must be adhered to, in addition to the manufacturer’s installation guidelines.

The contractor is to perform the following:

Central Air Conditioning:

  • Connection of 240 V wiring at condenser and disconnect box.
  • Connection of low voltage wiring at condenser and furnace.
  • Connection of line set at the condenser and coil.
  • Start-up and check test and any adjustments.

 
Gas Furnace:

  • 120 V wiring at furnace.
  • Low voltage wiring at furnace.
  • Gas line connection to gas valve at furnace.
  • Start-up and check test and any adjustments
